Peter Lison, Curator at the Door County Museum & Archives, will present The Grains that Built Door County, a timeline of the county’s agricultural history with special acknowledgement of the Teweles & Brandeis Grain Elevator’s 125th Anniversary.

Peter will guide attendees on a deep dive into Door County’s agricultural history from prehistory, the growth of commercial agricultural and industrialization and its eventual decline, and modern agriculture as it is today.

The Teweles & Brandeis Grain Elevator, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1901 on a dock on Sturgeon Bay’s West Waterfront by carpenters E. L. Russell and W. R. Lindsey. Named after the thriving seed company at the turn-of-the-twentieth century, the T&B Grain Elevator was a significant component of the prosperous agricultural economy of the time.
