Celebrate 125 years of the Teweles & Brandeis Grain Elevator with the Sturgeon Bay Historical Society at the Door County Granary during Harvest Fest.
The Grain Elevator, built on Sturgeon Bay’s Westside Waterfront in 1901, celebrates its 125th Anniversary! Once one of FOUR grain elevators that operated on Sturgeon Bay’s working waterfront, now is the last vestige of the city’s agricultural economy. Visit the Granary’s free living history museum, learn the stories of this American invention, how it worked, the immigrants that built and operated the grain and seed trade here, the evolution of the waterfront, its contribution to the Door County economy at the turn-of-the-twentieth-century, and the Sturgeon Bay Historical Society’s plans for visitors to Get to the Top of the Granary.
Visit the Granary on Friday, September 18, 4 - 6 PM for an evening at the Granary during Destination Sturgeon Bay’s Sail Art artist’s reception at the West Waterfront. Beer, wine, and snacks will be available for purchase from the Granary Wharf Cafe. The Granary’s living history museum will be open for self-guided or docent-led tours.
To mark the Granary’s 125th Anniversary, join the Sturgeon Bay Historical Society at the Granary during Harvest Fest on September 19 for two live music performances. The LEGENDARY Polka Band, Jerry Voelker and the Jolly Gents, 2:30 - 5:30 PM preceded by local solo artist, Bill Gironda, Noon - 2 PM, playing classic 80’s rock.
Jerry Voelker and Jolly Gents have been delighting their audiences around the United States and as far away as the famous Hofbräuhaus in Munich for more than 50 years.
The Granary Wharf Cafe will serve drinks and snacks for purchase throughout the celebration. All proceeds benefit the preservation and use of the historic Door County Granary.
